My name is Brittany Jackson and I am the school counselor at Magnolia Park Elementary. I work with students individually, in their classrooms, and/or in small groups.
For CLASSROOM-BASED COUNSELING, teachers may sign up for units based on what he/she feels the students need most. Common topics include self-esteem, making and keeping friends, and bullying. I also provide lessons on monthly character traits in the classroom using a curriculum called Core Essentials.
For SMALL GROUP COUNSELING, I send home a permission form that lets guardians know what the topic is, what will be covered, and the goals of the group. Guardians have the option of allowing their child to participate or decline.
To receive INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING, a student is referred to me by his/her guardian, teacher, or administrator. Students may also request to see me. Students come to my office to talk about things that impact their learning at school, such as friendships, self-esteem, and emotions. In my office, students can feel free to talk about what worries them and ask questions.
I would like to continue being a resource for your child throughout the school year. My goal is to help your child be successful both academically and socially through one-on-one counseling opportunities. The goal is to meet with your child once a week for 4-6 weeks and then decreasing services to an “as needed” basis.
If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact me at 228-875-4263 or firstname.lastname@example.org. I will be happy to work with you to make your child’s journey at Magnolia Park a great one!
